Financial Accounting: Reporting and Impact Analysis

This course provides a comprehensive overview of managerial accounting, focusing on its key procedures, practices, and objectives within modern organizations. Students will differentiate between managerial accounting, financial accounting, and sustainability accounting, analyzing their distinct policies, procedures, and reporting responsibilities, including the legal constraints at both state and federal levels. The course will highlight the role of managerial accounting in decision-making and management reporting, emphasizing its connection to strategic planning and control functions. Students will explore essential managerial accounting tools used to measure financial performance and assess impact investments, equipping them with practical skills for effective organizational management.

Principles and Practices of Corporate Social Responsibility

Students analyze theories and real-life concepts of corporate social responsibility as they justify the various stakeholder perspectives in corporate social responsibility practices. This course focuses on emerging business opportunities, sustainable business practices, and business models, like benefit corporations, which implement a disruptive business for good framework.

ECON5003 - 3 SEMESTER CREDITS
Economics Analysis

Understanding macro and micro economics is critical for business leaders. In this course, students learn how economic issues and strategies are implemented in the business environment, as well as how economic problems are solved. Economic theory is applied to the decision-making process through the application of econometrics. Students apply theories to topics such as supply and demand, human capital, finance, and technology. In this course, social impact economics emphasizes the integration of positive social effects, social investments, philanthropy, and developing solutions to public issues to make the market more efficient. Economic growth, efficiency, and equity will be examined. Students will explore the relationship between market outputs, prices, and externalities, while also analyzing Certified B Corp organizations based on their B Impact Assessment scores. Through the use of econometric tools, students will evaluate the alignment of public funding sources with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and develop outcome matrices to measure social impact across a continuum.

Students will investigate the financial management practices essential for socially responsible organizations, focusing on problem-solving and strategic decision-making. Students will address key issues such as forecasting, profit maximization, navigating international financial markets, and assessing financial risks. This course is a culmination of concepts and techniques gained in previous courses while developing strategic analytical and decision-making skills as a business leader. Students will demonstrate their expertise by building the business portfolio and business plan. The Capstone Experience is designed for students to demonstrate and document the impact of their knowledge of business administration and competencies gained throughout, and as a result of, studies related to business administration with emphasis on social impact.

Leaders rely on data to make decisions; thus, understanding business analytics is critical. In this course, students apply business decision-making techniques. Decision-making is focused on areas such as; descriptive statistics, probability, distributions, sampling inference, regression and correlation, multivariate analysis, times series and index numbers. This course will emphasize on the derivation of these numbers using computer-based tools, the concentration is on interpretation and use of the results to determine integration in the business environment. The course also covers data management, visualization techniques, and how to effectively communicate results to stakeholders, with a focus on social impact and decision-making.

HRM5003 - 3 SEMESTER CREDITS
High-Performance Human Resource Management

This course emphasizes the evolving role of Human Resource Management (HRM) and its impact on organizational performance. Students analyze HRM’s responsibilities in ensuring ethical and legal compliance, as well as the laws governing employer-employee relationships and the role of government agencies in monitoring compliance. HRM’s influence on employee engagement and job satisfaction through compensation, development, communication, and conflict resolution will be examined. Students will design compensation plans aligned with organizational strategy and practice decision-making in areas such as workforce planning, recruitment, selection, and compliance. The course also evaluates HRM's role in labor relations and emphasizes effective communication strategies for conveying critical HR information, such as job enrichment, developing human potential, and resolving conflicts along with other workplace issues.

Organizational dynamics and change can improve organizations. Various organizational culture, toxic leadership, and organizational psychology will be reviewed to develop potential solutions or frameworks. This course focuses on decision-making processes and perspectives of various stakeholders to promote organizational behavior change. The relationship between leadership behaviors and company culture, providing strategies for gaining stakeholder support during organizational change, will be examined. Students will develop clear and concise communication strategies tailored to various audiences. International Transcript Requirements

All applicants must submit, to the Admissions Office, an official evaluation from a NACES-approved organization.

  • Transcripts that are international and/or not in English must be evaluated through a NACES-recommended agency.
  • Texas applicants for licensure programs may only submit evaluations from agencies approved by the Texas Education Agency.
  • International applicants must request the course-by-course evaluation. The evaluation report must show that the non-U.S. education is equivalent to the education/accreditation level required for the program.
English as a Second Language Applicants

All applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate competence in the English language as demonstrated in one of three ways:

  1. Submission of an official transcript showing a degree from a United States secondary school or regionally accredited college/university.
  2. Submission of an official minimum score on the paper or internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exams.
  3. The minimum TOEFL score required for the internet-based version is 80, and the paper-based version requires a minimum TOEFL score of 20 for each of the three skills: Reading, Listening and Writing.
  4. The minimum IELTS score required is 6.5. Note: IELTS is not acceptable for Texas programs leading to certification.
  5. The testing agency must send test scores directly to American College of Education.
  6. Applicants to the Texas Educational Leadership program whose first language is not English must submit a minimum scaled score of 24 for speaking, 22 for listening, 22 for reading and 21 for writing from the Internet-Based TOEFL (IBT) or evidence of an undergraduate or graduate degree earned at an institution of higher education in a country outside of the United States listed in Figure: 19 TAC §230.11(b)(5)(C).
